Bio-Rad operates more than 40 legal entities across the EMEA region. The EMEA Controllership function, led by the US Controllership team, plays a critical role in ensuring that the company’s financial performance is accounted for accurately, timely, and in the most efficient manner.
The Accounting & Reporting Accountant role sits within the EMEA Controllership team and is responsible for overseeing the accounting, compliance, and reporting requirements for a small portfolio of non‑complex legal entities. With support from the A&R Manager, the role contributes to monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities under US GAAP, ensuring full compliance with SOX and group reporting deadlines.
In addition to managing their own portfolio, the role is expected to support Senior Accountants with routine tasks during peak periods. The position involves close collaboration with multiple finance functions across EMEA and with Corporate HQ in the US, and acts as the primary point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors.
This position is primarily aligned to the Southern EMEA region, covering countries including Italy, Spain, Portugal, Israel, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Greece, though responsibilities may extend beyond this scope as required.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
You will play a key role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of Bio‑Rad’s financial reporting across EMEA by:
- Leading timely and accurate monthly close activities in line with group reporting deadlines, accounting policies, and internal guidelines.
- Delivering quarter‑end and year‑end US GAAP reporting, ensuring full SOX compliance.
- Preparing robust, audit‑ready balance sheet reconciliations with clear ownership of balances and appropriate third‑party support where applicable.
- Developing a strong financial, operational, and commercial understanding of your entities to perform high‑quality trial balance reviews and meaningful variance analysis.
- Supporting the quarterly tax provisioning process, including journal postings, reconciliations, and GAM data entry where required.
- Preparing GAAP‑to‑statutory bridge files, local statutory accounts, and supporting documentation in line with internal deadlines.
- Supporting validation of US GAAP vs. statutory profitability, including alignment with transfer pricing requirements.
- Acting as the main point of contact for external auditors and service providers, ensuring timely resolution of audit and statutory queries.
- Managing statutory, tax, and local compliance requirements, including CIT filings, tax payments, and statistical submissions, with strong documentation and recordkeeping.
- Supporting annual SAP ledger maintenance (L1 updates) and ongoing compliance calendar management.
- Monitoring and resolving ServiceNow tickets, providing timely and customer‑focused support to EMEA stakeholders.
- Contributing to process improvement initiatives, automation efforts, and ad‑hoc finance projects as needed.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, or equivalent (international qualification accepted).
- 2–3 years of accounting experience, gained within a multinational company, a Big 4 accounting firm, or a combination of both.
- A solid accounting or controllership background with a good understanding of US GAAP.
- Experience working in an international, multinational environment, ideally within EMEA.
- Exposure to statutory accounting, tax compliance, and audit processes.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP (essential); experience with Power BI, Blackline, OneSource, or similar tools is an advantage.
- Familiarity with SOX‑controlled environment.
- An enthusiastic team player who can work flexibly in a dynamic environment and support colleagues during peak periods.
- Strong analytical skills with a risk‑based mindset and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large data sets.
- Clear and effective communication and interpersonal skills, enabling collaboration across functions, countries, and seniority levels.
- Strong written and verbal English skills; an additional European language is a plus but not essential.
- A continuous improvement mindset; Lean or Six Sigma experience is preferred.
